Poverty is not a financial issue; it’s a social issue. Jesus calls the whole church to lead society by example by taking responsibility of poverty because the church is a family and a community. We are able to confront poverty, not so much because of what we can do, but who we are. Because the church is a community centered on Christ, and because the antidote to poverty is life in community, the church holds a key that can unlock radical change for the poor.
